Kenneth Frantz, presents his book Berkeley-Paris Express, Mon July 15 at Ashland Community Center, 7:30pm
A lively memoir of the education of a young composer studying classical music and painting. — The story tells of a young man (Kenneth) who eschewed popular music to write his first symphony. It is also about the influences of people and places upon him – first, that of a brilliant expressionist painter, who became the author’s mentor while he was at U.C. Berkeley, and later, that of Paris, and the Juilliard School. 69 illustrations include paintings by Chagall, Rouault, and Corot. A glossary is included.
