Bear Creek Greenway Makes USA Today List

Bear Creek Greenway in USA Today “15 Fantastic US Bike Trails”

Among several other experts, Katie Rosenbrock, who writes for compiled a list of 15 must-ride bike paths within the U.S., making sure to include something suitable for riders of all levels and interests.

Bear Creek Greenway,  which you can get onto in just a hop, skip and jump from the Chanticleer Inn, runs from Ashland to Central Point.  The Bear Creek Greenway follows the creek — yes you guessed it the Bear Creek — runs north-ish all the way to where it joins the Rogue River.

While I don’t bike, I recommend this trail because my friend Jim reports that the bike trail is very good, well maintained, wide, without much change in elevation.  It goes through riparian corridors with lots of birds to see and hear.  You might also spy a few river otters, nutria, and beavers.  Some of the Bear Creek Greenway runs along side vineyards and provides lovely views of both the Cascade and Siskiyou mountains.
